How do I choose which direction to take when there is no roadmap? I read today that Avenquest has software that will guide you through business plan development. I like that idea and it might have been useful a few years ago when I was writing my business plan but now what I need is some guidance in developing a new distribution channel.
I have a telephone meeting next week with my distribution adviser to chat about what I am doing and to chat about the Frankfurt Book Messe. I have been having meetings this week with women interested in teaching classes and distributing Hocus and Lotus products and that is encouraging. Starting next week, I will be visiting schools around Munich and dropping off sample products. I have to make sure that I keep enough product for the Book Messe but I also don't want to give up the opportunity to sell product and build up my channel. These women who are buying my products will be the foundation for future sales and are my fledgling distribution channel.
No road map. I can see my destination. I know I will get there but is it like the Alps? I can see the Alps from Munich but it takes hours to get there. The mountains are in my backyard but that is the illusion, they are not in my backyard. Between Munich and the mountains are the foothills and many winding roads. A journey that leaves me very sick to my stomach and wishing I stayed in the city. Only reaching the top of a mountain do I forget the painful journey. The views are spectacular. Is that what this project will be like? Will I forget the struggle when I reach the top of the mountain and see the distribution channel off in the horizon?
What kind of Entrepeneur am I? Will I be tempted to go for the next mountain range or is one mountain adventure enough for me?
