Whose in my bed?

A popular children's story is goldilocks and the three bears. A little girl wanders into the house of some bears and samples everyone's food, chairs and beds. She finds that after sampling, she likes the little bear's chair, food and bed best of all. When the bears come home, they find that their house has been broken into... everything has been touched and at the end they find a stranger sleeping in one of their beds. Who is more scared, the little girl in the bear's territory or the bears that a little girl entered their domain.

Why am I talking about bears and beds? Well you have to make sure that what you are pursuing fits and that you are not devoured as you sample. The American company is interested in finding a partner. They sent me an interesting package yesterday. I sent the package to one of my advisers to see what he thinks. The company has a great product but what is that worth when they have absolutely no distribution. There are incredible software products out there with no distribution.. distribution is the key and is what makes a product valuable... distribution, branding and market share. All three of these things are missing with this company. If they sell now, they will get very little. Their best bet is to just get a royalty for the software engine.. because they don't really have a company do they?

When I was in Luxembourg, I found that it was not creating the product that was the major expense, it was marketing the product and getting it distributed... if you have a wonderful product and no marketing.. what is your product worth? The American company spent very good money creating a product but the cost of creating the product is not taken into consideration when you figure out the worth of the company. They have a software product.. the end result of their research and development. Their software product is like my novel, without distribution, it is just a really good book but not a bestseller.

So today I am contemplating what to do... is this company the best bed to sleep in....Are there any bears sniffing about...
