Podcast Statistics using Excel Spreadsheet
I have been experimenting. I am not sure whether my listeners care, but I want to know if the frequency of my podcast posting has anything to do with how many downloads I have. At this point, it looks like there is no correlation. I have approximately the same number of downloads a day no matter how many times I podcast. I have been keeping records of the podcasting and hopefully, this will continue to be accurate.
I have an excel spreadsheet that I am using that keeps track of my daily total MBs used and based on the size of my files approximately how many people are downloading my podcasts.
This is not just people from iTunes but from all subscribers.
I am going to start podcasting again on a regular basis now that I am done with my little test. I like podcasting and I decided to use the podcasts for my other work. My students are going to be using my podcasts to help with their English courses. This will keep them motivated. They were complaining about having English only once a week. I am unable to really change that unless they are willing to pay for another English class but at least they will be able to listen to me everyday talking about something different and I get another subscriber.
If they enjoy the podcasts, then I will think about making that into a premium service for my students. I will incorporate my podcasts into the lesson plans and then they will get lots of practice.
In other areas of business, I have a company from England that has a wonderful Audio/Book combination made for children that is geared towards children learning a new languge. They are sending samples to me and I am going to share the samples with one of the publishers here in town. I like the product and the English publisher would like to license the product to a German publisher... We will see what happens.. I am getting four books in English and two in Spanish.
I went to a business meeting this week and I was given the movie "The Secret." I liked the movie. It is about positive thinking. I am familiar with everything in the movie and it was nice to hear and see the material. I think the movie is well made and enjoyable. The premise is that everyone can get what they want with positive thinking. So yesterday I made my first positive want. I said I wanted 50 Euros that day unexpected. When I got home, the designer of my website and of my Logo said he wants to do more work for me for free so that he can round out my design work for his portfolio. he decided to start his own design firm.. As soon as he has his website ready, I will be talking about him... because I am a sneezer and that is what sneezers do. (Purple cow... Sneezer... Women..... talker...)
I was so happy with the fifty Euro "Want" that I made a few other wants and I made my wish board to remind me of what I want. During the last few years, I have spent my time devoted to developing my spiritual side.. it is time to balance the equation. I am now spiritual enough to handle the material side of life... I am certainly looking forward to 2007.
