Advanquest Announces New Streamlined Leadership
when I first started my company, I went and spoke with Andy Goldstein at Avanquest and told him my idea of how to distribute software and increase the market for software by targeting women. I told him how I thought it would work and what I needed. After a wonderful discussion, Andy told me he was a feminist and that I should be director of direct distribution, if I could be managed...
A few months later, his company purchased Emme and they have now streamlined the management of the two companies so that Andy is the VP for Europe.
Andy told me that my idea is not something that Avanquest would invest in because they only purchase companies and they don't do organic growth.. so they purchased Emme instead of organically growing Sofia.
If you didn't know this by now, my name is Emmy so the fact that they bought a company with my name is a bit ironic.
The main problem is that there isn't one company that is focusing exclusively on women so Avanquest's purchase isn't really expanding their female market because women still have no clue that they exist and they have no strong branding that women can identify with...
What to do.. What to do...
Did I mention I am creating a distribution company... Sometimes I want to pull my hair out but at least I know that no one in Europe is having an easier time.... whether you do things for free or spend 600k dollars a week, doing business in Europe requires determination, flexibility and the ability to keep working at it. Europeans love technology as long as it serves a purpose.
Last night I noticed something as I was sitting in a cafe. There are these blue tooth headsets that men wear... Some guy was wearing it last night at a cafe and when I looked over at him and smirked he took it off and set it on the table. It is the stupidest looking thing and men wear it when they are not talking on the phone. I have yet to see a woman wearing one on purpose as an accessory.. the thing looks like something from star trek.
I am not interested in being beamed up into outerspace unless it means I have better reception for my phone call.
