How Many Browers Do You Need?

I just read an article about Apple wanting Safari to seriously compete against Internet Explorer. Here is the link.

Supposedly Firefox's parent company is not happy about being excluded from the list of competitors cited by Apple. I found it interesting how the egos of different executives seem to be getting bruised lately and all because companies are not playing nicely. Who said business was a nice place to play? Who said corporations give a damn how you feel?

Apple is preparing to become a software company. It needs a good browser presence for marketing and branding purposes. This is not a late strategy, it is a necessary strategy for what they are preparing to do. If Apple continues to rely on just ipods and iTunes, consumers will forget that this company actually has a very good line of technology products. Who said that Safari and ITunes can't merge into one pretty product......oops lets get off my tangent and back to reality...

Consumers go after brands and if Safari runs well and people like it, they will look to Apple for other software. Software that will work on any computer, not just Apple computers.

A consultant that I talked with last week, scoffed at the idea that Apple will be selling software for all PCs. Why is that idea hard to grasp. The best money comes from software sales.. not hardware sales, why would Apple ignore this lucrative oilfield which it is sitting on top of and which the European commission may force them to start drilling.

Back to browsers. I need several browsers. Each browser seems to have some kind of benefit and since I keep three to ten windows/tabs open at one time, the more browsers the happier I am.... soon I might catch myself whistling while I work... This Snow White knows her Apples... They are sitting on my desk.
