Day 21 Zen Vision:M Test Windows killed my phone
The PR firm who handles the Zen Vision:M account found one store in Munich that sells the Zen and has it in stock. Of course the store is in the suburbs and not downtown but you can buy the Zen in a store in Munich which is good to know.
I really love technology but I am tired of Microsoft Windows. I have this lovely little phone with a PDA and I love the design of the phone and the little pen I use to type and get to all the features but yesterday the phone crashed. I did a soft boot twice and it keeps coming up to the windows screen and goes no further. I did a hard reset and it still only has the windows page. Everything is gone or stuck inside the damn phone. The phone is not old, it just uses Windows software. Now I am on a quest for a new phone that does not use windows software and has a PDA and looks pretty.
Because my phone crashed and is not reviving, I had to go into my closet and dig out my Nokia phone.
I love Nokia. I am not one of these people who buys my technology based on brand but I have never been disappointed by my Nokia phones. They always work. I want my other phone to be made by Nokia. The phone was a present so I really could not complain about the brand but I will never recommend any phone company except Nokia because Nokia works. The phone may be ugly, but it works.
I have been saying that you need to make things pretty but if it is pretty and breaks down and I need it, I will just get upset. This is the order of priority. First, it must work and be dependable so I don't have to think about it. Second, it needs to be pretty. Third, it needs to have a reasonable price for what I am buying.
What is a reasonable price? I found out my threshold for reasonable this week. For the last month, I purchased Vanity Fair magazine in German to practice my German and the magazine, which is newly launched in Germany, sold for one Euro. Yesterday, I went to the store and the Vanity Fair price went up to two Euros and was half the size of the magazine sold in February. Pity. I was ready to pay one Euro for the magazine but two just seemed like a waste of money.
Wasting money is not a real concern for me though because I will go to Starbucks and pay four Euros for a chai tea latte but my latte has always been expensive, they did not try to lure me into Starbucks with a two Euro latte and then one month later make it four Euros. It has always been four Euros. After one month I have no brand loyalty to Vanity Fair. The Germans warned me that this was going to happen, I wonder how many of them will continue to buy the magazine for two Euros. I know I won't. I will just go to Starbucks and read it for free while I drink my four Euro Latte and pay for internet connection through Deutsche Telecom. (T-Com Hotspot)
