Splitting Sofia Verlag Website from Sofia Magazine

This weekend I decided to do some spring cleaning because I ran out of space both on my server and on my laptop. I fixed the website by deleting some older podcasts and dividing www.sofiaverlag.com and www.sofiamagazine.com. I now have two websites. One website for my company and one for the magazine. I need to give the magazine its own space to grow.

I get an interesting newsletter which talks about things that are happening in publishing. Publisher's Lunch Deluxe noted that several large bookstores are closing. From what I have been reading, bookstores are having a hard time existing but I don't think that is the fault of just the bookstore owners. I think part of the problem is the size of the books being published and the quality. Yes, it is nice to read novels but when you have so many options, how do you choose what to read?

I bought a book recently at an expatriate bookstore that the store owner recommended. The book is "The Book of Ebenezer Le Page." I am not finding the book challenging but I am enjoying the book. It is different. I think that is the problem with many recently published books. They are just following a formula that is familiar and which you can read but after awhile, you really don't want to read them anymore. There is no excitement to read a book when you know what is going to happen. At least not at my age. I don't need books to fill my time. I have lots of other things to fill my time. I want to read because I like learning new ideas or reading a very good story... a story like Ebenezer Le Page.

Quality books are being published but how do you find them when you go into a chain bookstore? There are just too many options and like fast food, formula fiction is always right in your face and priced to move quickly. How do you get high quality fiction to those who want it?
