Italians are so lovely
I have a company in Italy for whom I will be distributing an educational product line. They just emailed asking why I don't want a publishing license... see..... ALWAYS ASK. I made the assumption that they were just giving away distribution rights but no, they want to give away exclusive publishing rights too.. well I love their product and I have asked for the rights for the US, UK and Germany... three very large markets... so for now, I will start distributing their products but hopefully in three months I will be the exclusive publisher for these three regions. I also asked if I could pursue toy licenses and they have agreed to let me negotiate the toy licensing rights... I guess the lesson I learned from this situation is always ask for everything you can think of and you may be surprised at how much you get.
Something everyone in business should remember is NEVER MAKE ASSUMPTIONS... darn that lesson is so hard to learn...
