podcasting Sofia Magazine
I know. I should be at a party this evening but I couldn't stop myself. Going to a party with a few hundred people was not as exciting as working on the material for next weeks podcasts.
I posted two podcasts this week on iTunes. The podcasts were from a novel and I wanted to test whether people would download material I posted and whether I liked making the podcasts. Well, people like the podcasts enough that I get to be listed as a top podcast for spirituality in Germany... I am not sure how long that is going to last but at least I know people are not annnoyed by the sound of my voice and they are willing to download my material.
So, knowing those two things, I will start podcasting Sofia Magazine on Monday. What is Sofia Magazine. If you read my blog from the beginning, (quick use the search button) you know that as part of my marketing, I wanted to publish a magazine to help build up my branding. The problem we faced was financial. I have some wonderful articles that sat on the shelf for a year. Now that I can broadcast the magazine for free, I can work on building the branding without a huge cost to my company. For that reason, I gave up my Saturday to research my competition.
Competition? yes, I have competition... magazines which people are able to download. The competition is not as severe as in a traditional bookstore.. there are 150 items that use magazine in their title. I know my target audience and itunes will let me reach the 30 percent that know how to use itunes and download.
So I figured out my competition.. what else?
I looked to see how long I should make the podcast. It looks like Sofia will talk about something different for 6 to 36 minutes. I know that if I have a download that is 36 minutes, I will need to break it up into three 12 minute episodes.. this makes it easier to download for those who do not have fast connections. After reading the chapters of the novel, I know that I can handle reading/talking for 25 mintues and that I can get the podcast done in one evening... so it is possible to do the podcasting daily. why daily? Because the most popular sites have a daily podcast and I need to be a popular site to develop a branding.. it will be useless to be at the bottom of the list.. I need to be towards the top.
Yes, I am going to talk to you everyday... what will I talk about? Here is the tentative list...
Mondays, I will have a column called Expat Entrepreneur. This will include bits from my blog and information for entrepreneurs. I have plenty of ideas for this column and plenty of stories to talk about.
Tuesdays - Expat Survival. yes, exactly what it says. What it takes to be an expat and the resources available to help you. Will probably interview expats on Tuesdays.
Wed. - Technology. I am a geek.. I love technology and I want all women to be educated on trends in technology and how they benefit our lives. This will not be a technical article where I talk about programming etc. It will provide basics. Products I think women/men should buy and why.
Thursday - Relationships. I have a therapist from the US who has written some nice articles. I will use these articles and also concentrate on intercultural relations... the topic of a few of my blog entries... but this will deal with both business and personal relationships.
Friday - Free for all.. whatever I feel like talking that week.. I will be talking about Food Force and a few other non profits next week.. innovative ways of marketing a non profit...
That is it. So for five days a week, I will be putting out a magazine that announces that Sofia Verlag exists. I am just really happy that the biggest cost for this advertising is my time... and I am always willing to give my time for a good cause.
