Day 2 Creative Zen Vision:M Experience
Day 2 with Zen Vision:M. First, Creative's media players are designed to work only with Windows. After the shock (you know.. that I was a captive of Apple) wore away, Creative came to the rescue with an email giving me the links to two very resourceful individuals who have come up with free software programs which help you to use the creative on Apples.
Hurray!
The creative customer service returned my email within one day as promised and even though they could not fix my issue, the links they sent me did. I installed the first software program and without having to tweak settings, it worked perfectly with the Zen player to download all the material on the Zen player. ALL OF IT. Not only the music but the photos and movies. It worked so well that the mild annoyance I felt last night is all but gone. Gone because now all my multi media data that was on my old laptop is now on my new laptop. I will do a double check later but I transferred 55GB of data... that is alot of music and photos and uses up almost all of the 60GB capacity of this Zen Vision:M.
I showed the Creative to another journalist last night and she admitted that she has no idea how to use an mp3 player and does not have time to learn. Ouch. So far this has been the consensus among women in Germany. Yes, I like the idea but if I have to spend time learning how to use it, I don't want it.
Now that I have all this data on the Zen, (movies, photos and music) I have to figure out how to organize it. The files are not in any particular order so I have to spend a few days figuring out how to do that because I really do not want to be listening to monk chanting and then the violent femmes followed by Nora Jones..... My big accomplishment this afternoon was figuring out how to turn off the machine. Really.
Do I sound like an idiot. Yes, but I am not. I am an educated business woman who loves technology and is finding that this product is not idiot proof... so I am going through a learning curve. Will most female consumers want to go through a learning curve? Maybe, if you don't make them feel like an idiot. The first thing I think they need is an instructional video. I have one for the damn carpet cleaner which is a plug and spray water device. They should have a video that explains how to use the damn thing. Since there is no such thing because they are not marketing towards women, I am going to create a little how to use your Creative podcast.... That is... once I learn how to use it.. I want women to have an alternate device to buy and I want you to know how to use it... I don't want you to just stick it in a drawer.. just wait till I show you all the possibilities of this little gadget... it really is a cool piece of technology and I can't wait to use one at the Frankfurt book messe in October.
In other news, I got an email from two companies today. One is a large publisher that would like me to distribute their products and the other is a small publisher, Blue Giraffe, that has a new work blog. I asked if she wanted to link blogs but she is keeping her blog only for children's educational sites.. fair enough. I create children's products but I can't talk about them.. I learned my lesson about that... you will just have to come visit my booth at the book messe to see what we are making... you know, other than my little creature from the earlier post... she is a diva and needed some attention. She also has a lot of work ahead of her.

We also feature interviews with authors, illustrators and various children's book gurus.
We love to play listener submitted children's book reviews (especially children's voices!)
Our podcast is powered by passion. We have no sponsors or affiliate links and there is no money to be made. We do it because we love good children's books and we love talking about them.
Hope you'll check us out and join the conversation,
